Founder 2am Calls and Terrors - Why I Started FlightHR

After twenty years in HR, scaling teams across twelve countries, building infrastructure for high growth companies, coaching leaders through the messy human side of business, I kept getting the same 2am emergency calls, yes before I set boundaries, I would deal with issues at all times of night working in global HR.

The founder losing it because their best engineer has decided to walk and they have suddenly realised they had no retention strategy. The CEO whose leadership team was at war, which is rippling down to its employees. The scaling startup who has been hiring internationally and just discovered that their contracts will not stand in Germany and the company that ran an engagement survey and found out their team was already halfway out the door due to miscommunication, stress and burnout.

Whenever these things erupt, it always happens at the worst possible moment, but what’s always consistent was that it was preventable.

I’ve watched brilliant founders stumble on preventable people problems because the support they needed didn't exist. Big consultancies can be too slow and too corporate. A full-time Head of People at Series A is overhead most can't justify and executive coaching from someone who's never actually run HR in a scaling company? That's theory without context.

FlightHR exists because founders shouldn't have to choose between 2am calls, stress and overheads.

I work with tech, SaaS, creative and media companies including Series A to B, who need strategic HR infrastructure, leadership support and people expertise. I've navigated employment law across the UK, US, Canada, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. I've reduced time-to-hire by 35%. I've built engagement programmes that actually retained people. I've coached first-time leaders who went from struggling to thriving.

My passion comes from seeing a founders succeed, understanding their business goals and partnering to build scalable strategies and engaged teams that help them to stop being reactive to proactive.
